The Lisjan people have lived in the East Bay since time immemorial.

LEARN ABOUT OUR HISTORY

The Villages of Lisjan

Our Tribal territory includes 5 Bay Area counties; Alameda, Contra Costa, Solano, Napa and San Joaquin, and we are directly tied to the “Indian Town” census of the 1920’s and the Native California group known as the “Verona Band.”

Our Work

Our purpose and vision is dedicated to preserving cultural and environmental resources of village sites that have historically been part of the Lisjan homelands: Ohlone, Bay Miwok, Delta Yokut, Plains Miwok and Patwin Tribal peoples.

Our Tribe is committed to preserving environmentally and culturally sensitive lands within our Tribal territory encompassing what is present-day Alameda County, Contra Costa County, San Joaquin County, Solano and parts of Napa County in California while ensuring appropriate public access to lands consistent with preservation of cultural resources for generations to come.
